Homemade Pot Scrubber

Finally a use for the net bags that onions, potatoes, lemons and oranges come in. I have been saving them up, because I just knew there had to be a 2nd life left in there somewhere. Now I never have to buy a brillo pad again. One more thing off my list of things to purchase from the store.

Homemade Pot Scrubber

2 plastic net bags

Flatten the bags out and lay them on top of each other

Fold in half, and continue folding until you have a tight little square.

Tie with fishing line, twine, heavy thread, or a rubberband. If you have more time on your hands than I do,  you could sew the edges and make them into a perfectly square scrubbie.

This is so excellent for scrubbing a cast iron pan. Actually better than the brillo pad method I was previously using. I’ve been using the same one for a month now, it seems they are rather indestructable little buggers. I’ll let you know how long they last. I throw mine in the dishwasher so it doesn’t get all gunky.

This is a great idea, I am always running out of scourers for my pans.

Very cool! I have taken a different approach and cut the netting from the bags into strips and knit them into a square … but I think your scrubbers are probably a little thicker!

I wish i was more crafty. I have all sorts of things I could knit, crochet and sew, but unfortunately the home ec class I took was 20 years ago and those skills are long since forgotten. I need to find someone to teach me! Wanna come over?

Well this is a cool idea. Don’t throw those plastic mesh bags in the trash people, they have a RE-purpose!

AWESOME! One of the best ideas I’ve seen yet when it comes to reusing. How long did it last?

this is a smart re-use project–insert a piece of sponge inside folded bag to extend the scouring for pots and pans. not hard to sew with fishing line..tie it well..
i use mine as a ‘delicates’ bag when putting fragile items in washer…
as ‘hanging’ bag to protect my young cantaloupes or grapes on the climbing vines..it looks uh–strangely decorative..makes room for other crops on ground–keeps bugs and dogs away as well..
cut in strips it stretches to support tomato or bean plants on the fence..
