Homemade Taco Seasoning Blend

I don’t like buying things in little foil packets. I think its fun to work with herbs and spices and come up with unique flavors. Here is my version of Taco Seasoning. I usually make this in a quadruple batch and store it a little glass jar.

Taco Seasoning

1 Tbsp chili powder

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

1/4 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp sea salt

1 tsp black pepper

Mix all and store in air tight container. I use 2 rounded Tablespoons per pound of meat. Contains no MSG isn’t that groovy?

It is good to assemble your own blend of seasoning and you are right, this one doesn’t have MSG. I have a very bad reaction to MSG. I get dizzy so easily if the food has MSG content. Unfortunately, there are a lot of pre-prepared food stuffs with that ingredient. Thanks a lot for sharing your taco seasoning recipe. 😉

Malou, I’m glad you liked it. Its still amazing to me that MSG is known by the FDA to be a neurotoxin and its still allowed in our food. Yikes!
